Mrs. Binoculars, revisited

[The following will be of interest only to those who have followed the issue of the Epsteins, Doug Phillips, Matt Chancey and mrsbinoculars.]

People who stop in here regularly remember how Matt Chancey (whose wife Jennie runs the Ladies Against Feminism blog) tried to claim, or at least make people believe that the masthead in Ministry Watchman's blog was a picture of Jennifer Epstein, back when the Epsteins were publicly complaining about how Doug Phillips excommunicated them from Boerne Christian Fellowship.

It was a botched excommunication in that Phillips publicly breached pastoral confidentiality by sharing sensitive matters (not pertaining to the reasons for the excommunication) at the time of the excommunication, and the subsequent treatment included shunning of the whole family, including the children, one of whom has a disability which affects her both mentally and physically, and who was probably stunned when she went to hug one of the members of the church and was pushed away (this last according to both Mark and Jennifer).

I just got this interesting comment in an old blog post on the subject of mrsbinoculars. This subject has long been a dead horse as far as I'm concerned, but for those still interested, here is the comment, with a link to the post in which it appears.

Old Post On Mrs. Binoculars Which Contains the Following Comment:

"Im bewildered to be honest:

I've just found many references to the picture of mrsbinoculars spread around the net, !!!!!

My wife will be probably be alarmed to find that a photo of herself taken over 20 years ago in the Derbyshire Dales England should be making such a fuss.

The photo is on B/W Film & in my possesion . the original pic will be making it's apperance on the Flickr web page unedited, if anyone is interested ..."

I don't know the truth or falsity of this claim, nor do I know how to look it up on Flickr, but I'm just bringing people still interested in this subject up to date with the latest.

Perhaps I should clarify things a little further..

The original "Binoculars" photo that has made its appearance around the www was taken from one of my "Flickr" photo pages, This photo is of my wife Helen & has no connection with Jennifer Epstein in any shape or form.

the original photo can be found on Flickr.com
search "ynotpic" under "people" & you should find me !
the original is here..

the photo used around the web is here..

over 890 hits on this picture by the way, at the time of this post...amazing & bizzar to say the least, We do hope this puts the picture issue to rest.

Thanks, T. If I were you, I would demand that Matt Chancey publicly retract from putting up this page of his:

mrsbinoculars and that he would take the page down.

This Blog space was the first place that I found that would allow me to comment on the subject in hand. It was difficult to know just where to start & what to say. I hope enough people get to see the posting & see how all the fuss over the picture turns out to be complete nonsense.

I just don't see how this picture could be made such a fuss over...complete overkill in my humble opinion.

The subject of the people in question over what has or has not transpired is of no matter to me or my wife, & will not be drawn into comment about it.

As for Demanding that Matt Chancey remove the page he's put up, well I'd like him to take it down, unfortunately the WWW is supposedly a vehicle for the freedome of speech & all that. The page is really going to make him look very pathetic, when enough people see the original picture & make up their minds. Maybe this will be enough to make him take the page down eventually..

Then again, It wouldn't take me 20mins to create my own .com page to oppose his, put it out & let the ball start rolling !!!

I would imagine that most of the Matt Chancey pages to do with the subject are getting very little traffic now after all this time. Surley the subject is dead & burried by now?

Frankly..... I've but a short time on this planet, & want to use my allotted time enjoyably.

Regards
T.

"The subject of the people in question over what has or has not transpired is of no matter to me or my wife, & will not be drawn into comment about it."

I understand completely. This subject is primarily of interest to those, primarily in the USA, who are homeschooling within the evangelical Christian community, because the people who put up that picture, claiming it was someone else, and those who endorse the site, are well-known figures in the homeschooling movement to that particular group. So that is why there was somewhat widespread interest in this matter.

Doug Phillips, who heads up "Vision Forum," which advocates for homeschooling, among other things they promote, is the one who excommunicated the Epsteins from his church, and his friend Matt Chancey is the one who set up that site and tried to get people to "see" that that picture was Jen.

"Then again, It wouldn't take me 20mins to create my own .com page to oppose his, put it out & let the ball start rolling !!!"

Well, if you do, let me know about it. ;-)

"I would imagine that most of the Matt Chancey pages to do with the subject are getting very little traffic now after all this time. Surley the subject is dead & burried by now?"

I think so. I said it's a dead horse to me. But it is nice to hear from the owner of that picture.

And I think, to bring the situation current, that Matt Chancey may have said some things that were true on his site, but claims about that picture isn't one of them, and resorting to tactics like that have made him lose all credibility in my eyes as far as his honesty and integrity goes.

IOW - if you do things like this to try to dupe the public, then why should we believe you when you claim something else, even if it is true?

Over the last few days I've read a good few web pages on all the goings on.. I now understand some of it a little better! If rather Late!
Comments about the timing of the picture on the Flickr site & other sites & it's credulity overall seems to be prominent on a lot of the pages.
I am thankful of this opportunity to try & clear up the credulity of this picture, Until a week ago I had no idea that this picture had been used in this way & that it had created so much fuss. Permission was given to use the picture to just one of the requests (see the comments by clicking on the picture on page 6 of the ynotpic Flickr page), but by then it had already been used & much commented on…… it now seems! If I had known at that point about the fuss it had created, I wouldn’t have been happy about it.
I have to admit my own failing at the time to find out just how it had or was to be used. (Oh for the power of hindsight, but then again maybe this was the pictures ultimate purpose ).
The New picture in its entirety on Flickr is slowly gaining more & more hits, so at least people are going back & looking at it again. The Truth is simply there to see… it never was Jennifer Epstein. Oh & anyone who says it still is …. Needs to get the opinion of a good Orthodontist !! ;¬)
Thanks for your comments simplegifts3

I'm glad people are looking at the new picture.

Doubtless you are aware that it was the Ministry Watchman blog that used your picture in its masthead, and someone linked to my current entry in this particular thread on Ministry Watchman:

I'm finding links all over the place, Trying to follow the thread of it all was confusing.

I think it's time for me to move on now. Other things to do.

Goodwill & Karma to all

So long, T., and thank you for your comments and links.

I wish to express extreme regret at this exposure you had to so called "Christians" in the United States.

I cannot fathom Jesus, whom Matt Chancey claims he believes in, to endorse deception and what amounts to bearing false witness against someone like this (by what he did with the picture of your wife), and for that I am very, very sorry.

The God I believe in, is love, is gracious and compassionate, and forgives sin, but does not on account of those attributes and dispositions, think that deception is just something to be winked at.

It's a pretty shoddy testimony of Christian behavior you've been subjected to.

Again, bye for now, and thanks for stopping by here.

Lynn,

This is fantastic! You already know that Mrs. B is a political hit job but now it has been confirmed that the picture is not of Jennifer, like we didn't know that anyways. The centerpiece of his argument has been destroyed.
